Built in 2023, may I present Lew Valley Lodge (formerly nicknamed The Shed until we decided on a suitable name). This luxury 2 bed holiday lodge located on the Lobhill country estate is close to Dartmoor and the Devon & Cornwall market towns of Okehampton, Launceston and Tavistock.
A relaxing rural retreat, pictured here is one of the two cosy bedrooms.

It’s a fantastic space with spectacular views of Dartmoor and the family vineyard. The view will never bore you, I know it constantly surprises me from season to season. Flora and fauna are abundant, just relax and watch the ever changing landscape. Jane x.

The facilities:
- A contemporary space designed for a country holiday.
- Stunning countryside views looking down into Lew Valley, Alder Vineyard and out to Dartmoor.
- Luxurious, spacious, light, airy, comfortable and very peaceful.
- Minimum stay of 3 nights (please contact me for the possibility of a two nights stay)
- Check-in is after 4 pm and check-out before 11am, thank you.
- Arrive to a chilled bottle of Alder wine and local goodies!
- Fully self catering with a fully fitted kitchen in which to cook up a tasty meal of local produce (available to purchase from my farmhouse, Alder Vineyard shop, local stores and Lifton Farm Shop).
- Secure, private entrance via the deck.
- Two bedrooms with very comfy beds, supplied with fresh bedding, linen and high quality duvets. One bedroom has a king size bed and the other a ‘zip & link’ twin / king size for flexibility.
- Cot available on request.
- Spacious lounge area with TV and a cosy wood burner. A basket of wood is supplied and more can be purchased from the farmhouse.
- Fully heated throughout.
- Two large en-suite shower rooms each with a walk-in power shower, vanity unit, heated towel rail, storage shelves & fresh towels.
- Floor to ceiling windows with a sliding door leading to a 70 square metre deck covering 3 sides, see the sun rise and enjoy it all day!
- Outdoor and indoor eating, drinking and relaxing areas.
- Boot room with washing machine, repurposed enamel sink and iconic Sheila Maid. A great area to dry coats and footwear.
- Sheltered space to keep your bicycles dry.
- WI-FI with strong signal.
- All major mobile networks have a signal, indoors and outdoors. Some networks have strong 4G.
- Easy access to our 33 acre woodlands and Alder Vineyard with plenty of quiet walking and nature areas.
- Local drinks available including Sandford Cider from Crediton, Polgoon Vineyard wine from Penzance, Exeter Ale, Lobhill Gin, South Devon Tonic and Alder Vineyard wine – enjoy a glass or two in the lounge, on the deck or in our beautiful gardens or relaxing summerhouse.
- Dedicated parking area by Lew Valley Lodge.
- All on one level with easy access to the shower rooms. Please note, there are a number of steps leading to Lew Valley Lodge so it may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.
- 1.2 mile “village” walk to the local pub.
- Children welcome.
- We are on hand to help and answer any queries you may have.
- Located on the Lobhill estate close to the farmhouse, a family run luxury Devon Bed and Breakfast.
We designed Lew Valley Lodge with ecology at the forefront of our minds. Here’s just a few things that make it sustainable and landscape friendly:
- Rainwater toilets.
- Cork Flooring
- Solar panels.
- Weaver Green rugs, throws and cushions made from recycled plastic bottles.
- Many pieces of furniture repurposed and reused.
- An ongoing policy to improve the ecological and carbon footprint of the building.
Location
The perfect base for a Self Catering Holiday in Devon, Lew Valley Lodge enjoys a commanding position being just four miles from glorious Dartmoor – still within easy reach of the coasts of Devon and Cornwall, many local towns and historical cities. I’m sure you will explore both Devon and Cornwall and whilst thoroughly enjoying this perfect hideaway. Very well suited to keen walkers, cyclists and nature lovers.
