Arno Nel recently produced an aerial video of Lobhill Farmhouse Estate. It offers a bird’s eye view of the farmhouse and surrounding area. He even launched his “drone” from the woodland area and flew up to the trees and above. The video highlights how beautiful the countryside is here in West Devon. You can even see the bank where we go sledging in Winter!
I hope you enjoy this video and many thanks to Arno for his production.
The Bluebell Walk on Sunday 17th May 2015 at Lobhill Farmhouse, Alder Vineyard and Alder Farm raised almost £900.00 for St. Peter’s Church, Lewtrenchard.
Visitors walked from Alder Farm through Alder Vineyard with a tour guide and stopped at Lobhill Farmhouse for a glass of Alder wine.
It was a fabulous day and the weather was kind to us with 80 tickets sold.
Many enjoyed the new season Alder Wine which was superb and over 80 cream teas were served (and a slice of homemade cake).
Many old friends, family and local people attended from far away to see the progress Alder Vineyard is making. Thanks to everyone who helped and to each and every one of you who attended. I’m looking forward to the walk next year (although I’m lucky to be able to stroll through the wood on a regular basis).

Sitting at my office table checking my bookings I had a surprise…. two beautiful, inquisitive Roe deer visting in the garden at Lobhill Farmhouse. They both revisited the next day.
Roe deer are often seen on the estate and that same day a dozen large Red deer were seen close to Alder lake. While I sit here writing this piece I am watching the birds feeding outside and I look forward to Spring. The estate has something to offer through all seasons, the snowdrops are out and the daffodils will soon be shooting.
Fabulous B&B We stayed overnight for a local wedding we were attending. Prior to booking Jane could not have been more helpful, as we tried to decide on the organisation . She even offered to drive us back to the venue to pick up our car if we walked back that evening. The farmhouse is seer in very tidy, attractive grounds with woodland at the back. Dogs are allowed if staying in the lodge and Jane mentioned lovely walks. We had a beautiful room in the farmhouse overlooking the gardens, where a pretty wooden summer house looked the perfect place for afternoon tea. The bed was comfy, heaps of storage, beautiful large bathroom with bath and shower and lots of hot water. Jane has cold water and fresh milk in a small fridge in the hall of the house and tea coffee and hot chocolate sachets in the bedroom. We had a wonderful breakfast in the kitchen where Jane cooked the breakfast to the order left the previous day. I would say nothing is too much for Jane to make the stay fabulous and highly recommend the farmhouse for a stay. The setting is so pretty and near to three towns and of course Dartmoor and beaches on a longer drive.
