What our customers think…

Great location, surroundings, very friendly owner, cosy room, good breakfast, proper WiFi, definitely recommend this property to anyone who is looking to spend some quiet time in beautiful Devon County. My kids enjoyed being outside, exploring the area and making a small camp fire in the evenings.

A highly recommended Devon retreat! Jane's cottage is a lovely private space, perfectly located for exploring the beautiful Devon countryside and local villages, and about a 10 minute drive from Dartmoor. There are even plenty of charming walks you can embark upon from the B&B grounds themselves, so whether you're a serious hiker or looking for a more leisurely countryside stroll, there's something for everyone. Jane was incredibly friendly and helpful, and left lots of useful instructions about local amenities, pubs and suggested activities. I'm only sorry we couldn't stay for longer!

' My Favourite B&B '
My two friends and I stayed here last week as we are on a walking holiday. I loved this B&B and our hostess Jane was amazing! She even drove us to the nearest town for dinner and then came back to pick us up as we have no vehicle. The place was so comfortable, clean and decorated with wonderful fun taste. The breakfast was exquisite and she was able to accommodate our various dietary needs. I highly recommend.

“My girlfriend and I stayed here for a weekend in early April 2017. Jane's communication from our initial enquiry was superb; offering great tips for what to do as well as sorting out the usual formalities. The apartment itself is very nice - certainly spacious enough for the two of us; the apartment was clean and towels were provided, the kitchen is equipped for some basic cooking, and the huge double bed is one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in! The surrounding grounds (owned by Jane's family) are lovely and we enjoyed some pleasant walks to her parents' lake. The location is a few minutes drive to some shops if you need to purchase the essentials. We visited Lydford Gorge, which is about £8 per person (National Trust), and is perfect for some walks in an idyllic setting. Definitely take Jane's advice and drive there - we were (foolishly) ambitious and ending up walking the two and a half hour route! If you're after a relaxing getaway in a nature setting where you can relax in your own space and explore some beautiful countryside, Jane's place is for you. Thank you, Jane!”

Lobhill Farmhouse sits in a beautiful country setting, gorgeous gardens, nearby walks and the farmhouse itself is extremely welcoming and comfortable. Rooms beautifully decorated and spacious and clean. Would return again without any hesitation and I am not a big fan of B&B's in all honesty, but this one was superb.

"A Dartmoor Gem"
Absolutely faultless; a warm welcome, great size room (green room), excellent breakfast and spotless throughout (not that I would be that nosy!) Loved the little extras of warm biscuits and real milk in a little flask. The two cats Maisie and Reggie add to the home from home feel. The setting is idyllic. If you wanted just a mini break, the woodland and lake walk just on the doorstep is ideal for discovering the local area or to go further afield, it couldn't be more central to numerous attractions and towns. Looking forward to coming back in the spring.

I do a lot of travelling and the standard of privately owned b&b's in this country is extremely high. I arrived late and tired. Was greeted at the doorstep. Very comfy bed. Lovely breakfast. Highly recommended, although it probably doesn't need it. Any person who would give this an average, or below rating would in my opinion, be very, very hard to please. Or just horrid. I will be staying again.

“Brilliant Lobhill Farmhouse”
This place is just brilliant, on arrival you are met by Jane who gives you the warmest of welcomes. We were in the family room (Blue Room) and it was spotless with loads of space, warm, tea/coffee making facilities. The breakfast was superb and on the table at your choice of time. The gardens are beautiful with access to the woods where you can get out and about discovering the area in more depth. Jane was also very helpful advising what local inns could accommodate family's and where the food was good. Trust me when I say you won't find any better bed and breakfast establishment than Lobhill Farmhouse. Great place along with great people.

"Brilliant Lobhill Farmhouse bed & breakfast."
We were initially booked into the property for two nights, however personal circumstances dictated other wise and we were only able to stay one night. On arrival we were met by Jane who gave us a warm welcome, she told us about our room and went through what was on offer for breakfast the next morning, she also advised us where the best local inns were where we could go and have a good evening meal. The farmhouse has a beautiful garden and we missed out on going for a walk into the forest.
Jane was a great host and the farmhouse is immaculate, it is a brilliant place to stay and we will be heading back in the new year to get them walks in the forest with the children.

We have used this Farmhouse many times for our 'show judges' at South West Pony Association. We have always had very good feedback from our judges and though we would try the Farmhouse for ourselves. Can't praise this B&B highly enough. Jane, who runs the B&B was very welcoming, nothing too much trouble. All the gardens are well kept and our room was excellent, with very comfortable bed, excellent bathroom facilities. Home made fudge on arrival and coffee/tea as we required. Great choice of breakfast and all excellently cooked and presented. There are very nice walks in the woods behind the Farmhouse, and Jane's parents have a Vineyard adjacent to the Farmhouse, which you are able to reach through the woods. Needless to say we will be staying again.

"Lovely just lovely"
Lobhill is just beautiful, super clean throughout, extra little touches make it even more special. Jane welcomes you into her home wit
h open arms. Excellent breakfast with cups not mugs 🙂 My room was delightful and large with bed linen to die for, so comfortable. I did not manage to walk out but I understand the walking from Lobhill is wonderful. The night sky was as dark as could be. Jane even booked a table at a local pub for my dinner that evening and supplied me with a packed lunch on departure.
I have just one negative, having had a very long drive I was disturbed by loud talking around 10pm. Value for money, not over priced.

"Best B&B"
We loved our stay at Lobhill, we were welcomed in to the beautiful farmhouse by Jane the owner and show to our gorgeous room on the ground floor with views over the lovely garden and woodlands. Beautifully decorated, spotless and very cozy and homely.
Breakfast was so delicious! I really love her turquoise aga!
We will definitely be coming back, next time with our dog to explore the surroundings and spend a little more time there.

“We had a wonderful stay at this beautifully peaceful retreat. The grounds around the accommodation were free to roam and we enjoyed a lovely walk in and around the wooded area, pond and lake on the property. The house itself was well equipped, clean and had one of the biggest beds I have ever slept in! A jug of milk, to enable us to have a cuppa as soon as we arrived and a jar of fudge was a welcome treat. I would certainly recommend this as a wonderful getaway from everything place. We really enjoyed our very relaxing stay at Lobhill Farmhouse B&B.

Jane provides a friendly, low key welcome. The breakfast was delicious and well presented.

We stayed for two nights in the Blue Room (2 adults and 2 children), which was very comfortable. It was great to have use of the summer house and to be able to explore the woods on the property and walk through to the gardens and lake on the adjacent family farm.

A lovely, restful stay.

The place is like a new pin, immaculately clean and tidy, and very welcoming after a long drive. The owner, Jane, looks after the house and guests incredibly well and obviously takes pride in her home. There's enough space for you not to feel on top of the other guests and there's a self-contained cottage for those who want that extra space. We had an extremely comfortable bed with ensuite shower room and the whole experience was great. Oh, and the breakfast hit the right spot! Congratulations, Jane!

It was absolutely an exceptional stay at lobhill farmhouse. Jane is lovely and helpful. We arrived a day early having to mix up with dates ( our fault!) But so lucky the cottage is available. Can't imagine looking for another place to stay in just 2hrs away of arriving. When we got to the cottage, cottage was immaculate! Very well equipped. We have our 11mths old with us and Jane had a baby cot and a high chair for us to use. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom is clean, everything is well thought of. There's amazing big garden at the back of the house and into the woods which leads to Jane's parents vineyards. We tried going but pushing the pram seems to be a challenge at this stage. So will def would like to visit again one day when our daughter is older. All and all, definitely great place to stay when you're visiting Devon or Cornwall. Highly recommended!

Visited for 1 night on short notice owing to family funeral. Welcomed at the door by Jane, the owner. Room was nice, clean and comfortable. Fresh milk is provided for a range of tea & coffee in the room.
Didn't have time to see the grounds but they are well kept and looked inviting.
Breakfast was the best I've had with a lot of choice (made the night before) and served at the time we requested.
There is a self catering cottage in the grounds that looked perfect for a family.

I've had such a lovely stay at the cottage, Jane was very helpful before and during my stay to make sure I was happy. The cottage is located near a small village but it easily accessible and is very close to amazing Dartmoor. Jane was there to greet us when we arrived, showed us around the cottage and said that we could use the garden, walk in the grounds etc. - which we did. The bed was very comfortable - and very big! I especially liked the feather pillows as I normally take my own when away from home. When we told Jane that we thought a washing up bowl would be useful, when we came back from our day out there was one in the sink - great service. We cleaned the property but could find no cleaning materials (e.g. Cif, bleach). A thoroughly enjoyable stay for our first Airbnb experience. Thank you.

“An idyllic restorative break”
Everything about our mini-break was perfect - the room was large, airy and scrupulously clean and gave us the relaxation we craved. The hot biscuits straight from the Aga were delicious and the gift of fudge much appreciated. Jane's recommendations on where to visit that evening were welcomed and the Clovelly Inn was just right for a Friday night drink - the village is worth s return visit. At Lobhill we stayed in the Blue Room where we admired the attention to detail, and took advantage of opening the patio doors, viewing the old well and sitting in the summerhouse for an early morning coffee and read. Breakfast was to die for, delicious sausages and awesome poached eggs the highlights. After "check-out" we had a fabulous walk through the woods, stopping off at the pond and vineyards, before visiting the stunning gardens and memorable lake. We look forward to sharing the white wine we bought when friends next come round to dinner. Jane was the perfect hostess and we both thank you very much - our memories will linger for a long time. We return to our duties as emergency and respite foster carers with our batteries recharged!

“Overnight at this excellent B&B while cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats”

Lobhill farmhouse is ideally situated for cyclists, on the old A30 about 100 miles from Lands End on the way north. We were really taken by the warm welcome we received from our hostess. She was perfectly happy to help us out with evening transport and overnight laundry all at no extra costs, which was a real bonus after a tiring day on the road. The B&B offer itself was of a very high quality. Thank you so much for one of the high spots on our ride to date.

Wonderful Stay
I arrived a lot later than expected but was welcomed at the door of a very well kept farmhouse in a beautiful location.
Fresh milk was supplied for coffee/tea in the room which is always a welcome surprise (small plastic UHT tubs are not only foul tasting but also a waste of packaging).
Breakfast included some freshly baked bread - Sadly on this occasion I wasn't hungry enough to go for a full breakfast but the fruit, yogurt and local honey was delightful.
Room was spacious with nice en-suite provisions, WiFi included (unlike many larger accommodation providers) and included a small pot of local fudge was really appreciated.

"Why stay in hotels...when you have B&B's like this!"

Jane was incredibly welcoming and friendly, the room was immaculately decorated with all the facilities one needed. Even though very rural the Internet speed was fine (something I need for my photographic work). The large en-suite shower was perfect...even for a "big-lad" like me...no shower curtains here!! Fab views onto the Devon countryside and parking right outside the front door.

Why ever do we stay in hotel chains when we have places like this that just need eking out!

We had a fantastic stay at Lobhill Farm for a weekend exploring West Dartmoor. Jane was a very welcoming and generous host. The cottage was of a very high quality and very cozy. We enjoyed walking around the Lobhill farm and appreciated Jane's book of suggested restaurants and pubs.

We had a lovely New Year's stay at the cottage, we found it very comfortable and well equipped. Easy to find and it had everything we needed including hot water at all times and central heating which we appreciated given the weather wasn't great during our visit! We took a walk through the lovely woodlands and were delighted to see a number of deer watching us in the distance.

We had a lovely stay at the cottage and it was exactly as described we couldn't have asked for anything better. Jane had left a bottle of the vineyard wine which was a lovely surprise and very smooth on the palette to drink. Jayne also gave us a local tourist attraction coupon booklet which we put to good use visiting Clovelly and was a lovely gesture from her. We will thoroughly recommend the place to our friends and look forward to going back ourselves another time to do some more exploring.

"Absolutely Ideal"
My stay at Lobhill was quiet, peaceful and indescribably charming. Jane is incredibly friendly and accommodating, and I could not have asked for a better stay.
Everything about the stay was of note- the room was clean, charming and comfortable, the location is stunning, and I would happily stay there again in a heartbeat.

We had a lovely stay at the cottage, it is wonderfully presented in a quiet location, with wonderful grounds. The photos couldn't quite show how quaint and charming it is. It is fully equipped with all the amenities you could need, alongside a few extra treats. I would highly recommend staying here as the local area is lovely and the hosts were very friendly and helpful, we even got a visit from two affectionate cats!

Delightful little cottage with beautiful surroundings. Jane greeted us upon arrival and proceeded to give us a few pointers on things we could do and places we could eat. As it turned out, we spent both evenings in the cottage after exploring throughout the day and found it to be warm comfortable and ultimately relaxing. Loved the giant bed too. I'd happily return for another stay in the summer.

"Perfect for local wedding at Lewtrenchard Manor"
We were a small group of adults from the same family with a range of ages from 21-79. This B&B is only a very short journey to the Manor. We all found our stay PERFECT for our needs. The whole place is spotlessly clean and the bedding had that lovely freshly laundered smell which reflected the amount of work and care that has gone into running this B&B so well.
We loved the welcome treats and relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast was just right with a good choice to suit all needs. It was evident all round that this is a successful business and deservedly so.

First Class B&B

Our family group of 8 stayed at Lobhill Farmhouse for 2 nights whilst attending a family wedding at Lewtrenchard Manor. Great setting, bedrooms and wonderful breakfast .... Lovely touches with warm biscuits on arrival, and Jane's homemade fudge in the bedrooms. Nothing was too much trouble for Jane, she helped with pub bookings and taxis, etc. We left with fudge/honey and wine! Thank you Jane for making our special family get together even more memorable! We hope to return!

We had a lovely one night stay at the cottage. The host Jane welcomed us and gave us all of the information we needed for our stay. The cottage was perfect for a couple with a well equipped kitchen, a quaint lounge dining area and an unexpectedly large bedroom with a very comfortable bed. The grounds are lovely for a stroll and the woods for a bit more adventure. I would highly recommend this retreat and will try to visit again.

We stayed at Lobhill Cottage for 3 nights in October. The accommodation was modern, exactly as pictured and Jane made us feel very welcome. The surrounding woodland and vineyard is beautiful and was great to stretch our legs when we arrived. Surprisingly for the area, the entrance to the driveway is on a fairly large B-road, which thankfully meant we didn't have to navigate single-track country lanes! We would definitely stay again.
We really loved the surrounding woodland and walking around the lake, it's a very nice touch that guests have access.

Totally amazing.
Jane is really lovely nothing is too much effort. When entering the farmhouse you will notice how amazingly clean everything is and this continues throughout the entire place not a speck of dust in sight. And totally immaculate gardens to match.
Brilliant breakfast with fresh locally grown ingredients.
Even the pack provided in the rooms provides a lot of information way above and beyond what you expect

Well worth a visit you really won't find better anywhere

'Excellent B&B'
I had a one night stay last week and enjoyed it so much I am going back! I had the Yellow Room and loved the view from the window over the well kept gardens. Jane is a wonderful host, has equipped and furnished the room well, from the thoughtful local fudge on the hospitality tray to the lovely fluffy towels in the en suite. Breakfast was beautifully prepared and presented. My room was spacious and warm (I need to be warm!), the bed linen beautiful, the bed comfy, in fact I could not find a fault (and I am a picky person!). The situation is great for the various attractions (although I was staying for business), in fact I never realised before just how well situated Lewdown was - I may become a regular!

We took an overnight stop on our way to a week in Cornwall. Jane was very accommodating for our relatively short notice booking - we had the Green Room and our adult son had the White. The rooms are very comfortable and beautifully furnished with great little decorative touches. The homemade chocolate cookies provided on arrival were still warm from the Aga! We took the opportunity to walk the longer half of the Two Castles tail from Oakhampton to the farmhouse. Even in the rain this was a lovely walk and quite strenuous in half a day. Breakfast was excellent with home made jams. Wine from the on site vineyard is also available (though not for breakfast!). The grounds are large enough to make a very pleasant morning stroll to help the breakfast go down. Wet boots dried by the Aga were a great bonus. Definitely recommend.
The rooms all look good to me but the Green room is spacious, great shower, and a little Juliet balcony overlooking the garden and summerhouse.

The cottage was beautiful, clean and cosy. Jane was very welcoming and went through the local information with us, encouraging us to explore her family's vineyard and surrounding woodlands and gardens. It was a lovely touch to have a complimentary bottle of wine from their harvest. Unfortunately we had to cut our visit short so didn't get a chance the explore as much of the area as we wanted to but Jane was very understanding. We are hoping to return in the future to finish our holiday!

“Super B&B, would definitely go back.”

I stayed here to break my journey on the way down to Cornwall from the Midlands, it's a really convenient place to get to, very quiet and secluded but not too far off the main roads. My room exceeded all expectations, very spacious and everything spotlessly clean. The breakfast was also great, I have a slightly restricted diet but there was still loads of choice. I would definitely come back and would've booked again later that week on the way home if they hadn't been full!

“Beautiful B&B set in gorgeous surroundings”

I stayed in the Green Room for three nights, whilst on business in the area. I received a warm welcome by Jane, who has done such a lovely job with the farmhouse. I'm a keen runner and walker, and I could go for miles through beautiful woodland, lakes and the vineyard. The room itself was incredibly cosy, with the comfiest bed I've ever stayed in at a B&B. And the breakfast in the morning was top notch! I enjoyed my business trip so much, I have booked to come with my partner for a weekend in a couple months. I'd thoroughly recommend Lobhill to anyone.

Jane was a great host, always available for queries on the local area and cooked a lovely breakfast! The stable cottage at Lobhill is a great place to have as a base if you want to explore Devon amd Cornwall; less than hour from Tavistock, Bude (north coast), Looe (south coast). Jane responded very quickly to our request for the self-catering accommodation. When space was not available for the first night, she quickly offered the B&B as an alternative. We were welcomed there with hot biscuits and tea. The following day we took up residence in the very peaceful and very comfortable converted stable on her property. She had a welcome gift in the cottage to receive us and offered breakfast any morning when we felt we were not prepared at the cottage. She had an excellent guide of things to do and restaurants in the vicinity, complete with menus and descriptions. She suggested the Lifton Farms shop for buying both fresh produce and prepared foods and this proved very useful and tasty. We had a wonderful stay and the cottage was indeed a very peaceful and comfortable retreat. Jane was an excellent host.

We stayed in Jane's cottage on Easter weekend and had a fabulous time. It's a lovely small cottage with everything you need. It was beautifully done and very cosy with a welcoming bottle of wine and some fudge provided by Jane. The grounds were spectacular with lots of long walks without even leaving the estate so perfect for a relaxing stay. Lydford Gorge is only 10 minutes drive and worth a visit and, as other reviews say, the Lifton farm shop was a nice stop off. We did have some problems with the WiFi during our stay but Jane did inform us that an engineer would probably need to come out to fix it and she did her best to enable us to connect to her personal router by moving it closer to our cottage which meant that we did at least have access. All in all a perfect break away and would wholeheartedly recommend this little cottage!

“Perfect stay. Beautiful location. Excellent host!”

My partner and I were searching for a B'n'B near Dartmoor for one night and choose Lobhill Farmhouse having read the reviews on Trip Advisor. In short, the venue did not disappoint!

The location is great (with easy access to Dartmoor) and the property is very well kept. We stayed in the Blue Room which sleeps four and comes with an en-suite (shower + plenty of hot water). The room was large, very clean and has a comfortable bed. Tea/Coffee, fresh milk available alongside some complimentary local fudge - which was delicious.

The Full English Breakfast in the morning was perfect: cooked to order (by Jane), fresh (home-made bread/marmalade), local and very filling! A special mention has to go to Jane (the host) who is at the centre of Lobhill and who's little touches made the venue stand out from the rest.

Jane welcomed us on arrival with fresh cookies which were awesome and made sure we had everything we need. She knows the area very well and is more that willing to help you plan your day.

In advance of our stay, Jane contacted us and helped us choose a local pubs/restaurant for dinner. We ate at the Dartmoor Inn, which was on the pricey side - but worth it! She also gave us a lift there and back so I could have an extra pint (or four + wine...).

A wonderful stay, shame it was so short. We would definitely return and recommend to friends/family. Thanks again Jane, keep up the good work!

£88 a night. Beautiful Room but full of flies, which young lady apologised for and cleaned some up but room full of flies in the morning, both dead and alive, probably due to horses nearby. Wifi didn't work, no reception and tried several times but would not connect. Lovely bathroom and shower. Place is really well done up. Full English breakfast and provided Gluten Free bread, but served up breakfast and disappeared. Coffee was cold, just two small pieces of toast, gluten free bread is small slices and table full of dirty dishes from other guest not cleared away. Young Lady said owners away on holiday, maybe she on her own and had too much to do. Didn't justify the price for me, wouldn't go back.

We pride ourselves in running a high quality and thoroughly friendly B&B here at Lobhill Farmhouse. I (Jane) was away on holiday when a guest visited - I appreciate things were not perfect. I am always 100% mindful of my guest’s experience. I would like to apologise to this guest and will ensure this never ever happens again… Please see the other reviews on Trip Advisor and here on my website - they speak volumes.

Lobhill Farmhouse:

What a wonderful Bed & Breakfast experience ~ a perfect location which is ideal for exploring the local area, with its beautiful scenery.

A warm, friendly host ~ Jane has a 'I can arrange that' approach, nothing is too much trouble... I was very impressed.

My bedroom accommodation was lovely, newly decorated, with a first class finish. I stayed in the twin room [a very quiet room, with fabulous views of the garden, and adjacent woodland] contemporary stylish decor, fresh and tasteful. A beautiful shower room en suite, corner cubicle, no bath.

Breakfast was delicious, order what you want the previous evening ~ informal breakfast setting.
The breakfast menu choices are just right; beverages, toast, fruits, cereals, and of course the English breakfast ~ I really enjoyed it.

Tip: Bring along suitable footwear, and allow enough time to explore the grounds, adjacent vineyards and woodland.

We've just spent two nights at Jane's wonderful bed and breakfast, we were recommended by friends that also joined us for a return visit. You are made to feel so welcome as soon as you arrive in the beautiful farmhouse kitchen, and the warmth of the aga and delicious smell of home made biscuits. The rooms are spotlessly clean and very shabby chic in design with the most comfortable marshmallow beds and crisp linen. The surrounding farmland is a must to walk and welcomed by Jane who takes great pride in ensuring her guests are happy and well looked after. We shall certainly be visiting again!

Jane was ready and waiting for us when we arrived and was immensely flexible to our needs (arriving in separate groups, in order to go to a wedding locally). We had twin rooms in the main farmhouse (beautifully appointed) and a lovely cottage for the rest of us. Suited our needs perfectly.
Lovely location and grounds. Our room was the family room which was really well presented and clean. We had a warm welcome from Jane the owner, who made us some homemade biscuits on arrival which our children (5yrs and 2yrs) loved.
The dining room was outside our family room which meant myself and my husband were able to relax outside the room whilst the children went to sleep. The grounds were well kept as well.

"Jane's accommodation at Lobhill Farmhouse is second to none. I would liken it to a Boutique Hotel but on a smaller more intimate scale. Everything about Lobhill Farmhouse is wonderful. It's in a quiet and tranquil setting with lovely gardens and woods to wander around. Great for business stays or for a romantic break I can't recommend it enough. As for Jane well ..... you won't find a warmer welcome or anyone so accommodating very often. I promise you won't be disappointed!"

“Simply perfect”

Wow, why can't all b&bs be a patch on this? Stunning setting, warm and extremely helpful welcome (free cat included) perfect rooms...this place is exceptional in every way...cannot be faulted.
I must confess that I've only ever passed through Devon on my way to Cornwall but will definitely come again to specifically explore Dartmoor and stay at this wonderful b&b.

"The perfect getaway for a few days. Its a great base to explore from."
We stay at Lobhill every year owing to the fabulous farmhouse and warm welcome from Jane. The farmhouse is really clean and welcoming and a great base from which to explore. Jane has a list of local pub/restaurant menus and we have a favourite pub nearby - it's even nice in the rain!

“Fantastic value for money and brilliant friendly customer service”

5 of 5 stars

My husband and I along with my parents booked this B&B as we were attending a wedding in the same area, we wanted to feel treated and instead of going for the travel lodge option (which at the time was only £10 cheaper) thought we'd give this place a try.
Not only was it lovely and clean, Jane the owner made us feel extremely welcome and was happy to help with any questions we had. She even gave us a lift to the wedding, for a host you can't do better than that.

The room's are all different, country themed and very tranquil. We stayed in the Green room, which was lovely with its own little balcony, massive en suite with bath, tea and coffee making facilities and TV (although the surroundings were so lovely, I don't think you would need to watch anything)

After a great nights sleep what better than a home cooked breakfast in the country kitchen on a nice big farmhouse table. The breakfast was ordered the night before, which was nice as you didn't have that time delay of picking something to eat so you could just relax. There was a great choice of food, I think you would struggle to find something you could have. It was a very delicious breakfast, cooked by the host (Jane).

My husband and I would defiantly like to return as it was such a nice break from home, we didn't get to explore the surroundings but defiantly will next time.

For my last point if we had to pay triple the price it would have still have been brilliant value.

Recommend to all x LM

“A real find.....”

We stayed with Jane for one night on a brief trip to Lifton. She was the perfect hostess and the farmhouse was the perfect place to stay. We had the family room and the lovely yellow double room and it was just like being at home! We wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy the beautiful woodland, farmland and vineyard which guests have access to.
My daughter claimed that jane's breakfast was the best she had EVER had in a hotel/b and b and that is high praise indeed!

“Perfect place to stay”

Our 3rd year staying at Lobhill and it is still perfect. Beautiful location, the farmhouse itself is lovely. We stayed in the family room which now has a little nursery, complete with cot, fridge, extra storage and baby bath. Jane is the perfect host. Nothing is too much trouble and everything is catered for. Homemade cream tea on arrival and a gorgeous breakfast in the morning, who could ask for more. Fingers crossed we will be back next year.

“Pure bliss!”

This was our second stay at Lobhill, in the converted stable which is a lovely little cottage for two people and away from the main house. This beautiful property has a spacious lounge, a kitchen - with fridge, cooker and microwave - a bedroom - with two single beds fitted together so making a huge double bed - and a bathroom, with separate toilet. It is fully equipped with everything you would possibly need for your stay from the usual hairdryer and iron down to books and DVDs. Jane, the lovely owner, is one of the best hosts we've ever experienced. Nothing is too much trouble and her cream teas - which she leaves for your arrival - are fantastic. All homemade too! The location of the property is ideal for us as it is out of town but within easy driving distance of both Devon and Cornwall. We are really pleased to have found such a great place to stay and will definitely be coming back for a third visit...and more!!

“A beautiful spot with wonderfully accommodating owners"

I don't normally post reviews for places we stay but felt I had to make an exception after staying at Lobhill. Me, my husband and 7 month old daughter stayed here for just one night on our way home from Cornwall but could happily have stayed longer. The farmhouse is in a beautiful location and is set in stunning grounds. It was how welcoming and accommodating Jane was that really made it for us though. We stayed in the family room which now has it's own little nursery with a comfy cot, fridge, chair and baby bath. This meant that our daughter could sleep soundly without being disturbed and didn't miss her bath which she so loves. The fridge was really handy to keep her food and milk in. In the evening, we weren't able to go out for food so stayed in to have take away. Jane couldn't have been more accommodating. She laid up the dining room table for us, even keeping our dinner warm in the Aga while we put our daughter to bed. She also kindly let us use her kitchen while her family were eating their dinner! Thank you!!
A really lovely nights stay, would highly recommend it.

We stayed here for just one night for a family wedding in Tavistock. I don't think the main photo on this website does the place justice, as it makes it look a little bit bleak - which it certainly isn't! It's in a lovely location with lots of beautiful garden and surrounding areas to explore. Jane was a wonderful hostess and provided an excellent breakfast. We definitely want to return sometime to spend longer as it is in such a convenient location for trips to both the north and south coasts of Cornwall. A great find!

My family and I stayed here for one night recently and everything about it was brilliant. Jane is the perfect host; from the warm cookies for the kids on arrival to the wave goodbye from the front door upon departure. Our room was perfect for a family of 4 and my 6 yr old daughter was very happy with her 'sofa that turned into a bed' (imagine that!!). A lovely cooked breakfast the next day was also a big plus. The surrounding area is perfect for walkers and I can only echo all of the positive comments that have already been posted on here. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.

"The Ultimate B&B!"
My wife and I stayed at Lobhill on Friday 21st February 2014. The Lobhill Farmhouse host (Jane) is the nicest landlady that we have met (we have travelled extensively over many years), and greeted us with a smile and genuine warmth, and during our stay nothing was too much trouble for her. The room (and whole house) was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable – we both slept soundly on that bed without any noise disturbance at all indoors or outdoors.
Every need was provided in the room and bathroom. Breakfast was Top Drawer. Our only regret is that we were not able to stay longer. Overall, the best B&B we have ever stayed in.

I needed a place to stay for one night while on a business trip to Wadebridge from Wellingborough. I usually use Premier Inn but as the nearest one to my destination was full my wife got on to Tripadvisor and found Lobhill Farmhouse. Lucky me!

Lobhill Farmhouse is now stored in my SatNav for future visits. I'd happily recommend this excellent B and B to family and friends.

“Comfortable, wonderful service and great value”
We recently stayed at Lobhill for a week in august. Our room , the yellow room, was spacious, clean and bright with a large bathroom area and very comfortable bed. Breakfast was tasty, with a varied choice. The garden and woods around the farmhouse are lovely to wander in or just sit in on an evening after a day out. One of the best bits was on returning from a day out Jane provides her guests with milk to make tea or coffee and the most gorgeous, warm biscuits that we have ever had, we miss those biscuits. The farmhouse also has the added bonus of been in the countryside, making it quiet and peaceful, but is also, only a few miles from the main routes through Devon giving easy access to Dartmoor and the coast. Wonderful service and a great place to stay. (the cats are sweet too)

We are a family of five and wanted to break up the journey on the way down to Cornwall. It was a last minute thing but I wanted somewhere in the right area, good value and comfortable. "The Perfect B & B"
Have just returned from a two night stay at Lobhill which we had selected from the internet for an annual meet with an old school friend and her husband. Over the years we have met up at B&Bs in different parts of the country - but this has to be one of the best we have experienced. We can fully support the glowing comments in previous reports. The countryside setting is magnificent. Jane provides a most friendly welcome and her hot biscuits fresh from the oven are delicious. The rooms are light, spotlessly clean, well appointed and very comfortable. Breakfast is a social event taken round the large table in the kitchen - a chance to chat with other guests with Jane at the Aga preparing wonderfully fresh food. We were lucky enough to have time to explore the woods, fields and vineyard leading across to her parents property with its magnificent gardens and large lake used by schools and clubs for canoeing. This is the most peaceful, friendly and homely B&B - our greatest regret is that we hadn't booked for longer

' Fantastic return visit '
Having stayed at Lobhill on a work trip we liked it so much we came back for pleasure. Jane is such a lovely host, the warm biscuits are a treat on arrival. Room is spotlessly clean, bed really comfy and fabulous views. The woods were a carpet of buttercups and bluebells, absolutely stunning. I have been trying to replicate Jane's porridge since we came back but no joy, it's absolutely delicious.
Our room was large with huge bathroom with both bath and shower, small balcony looking out at the summerhouse, TV and wifi reception good. Tea/coffee facilities and fudge/cold water too. Beautiful furniture and plenty of storage.
Location is good too as on a main route so easy to get to but far enough back off the road that you would never know. Also great for touring Devon and Cornwall.
We were lucky enough to visit when the gardens next door at Alder were open, if you get a chance they are well worth a visit, gorgeous and everyone so welcoming.

We have just spent a night at Lobhill Farmhouse as we had a dinner to attend at the nearby Lewtrenchard Manor. As we drove up the beautiful snowdrop lined drive, we were so pleased we had booked it. The location is beautiful and even on a damp March day it was such a pretty sight. The lovely views of the rolling green hills and the enchanting forest of trees that you are made very welcome to stroll through to the river were unexpected. We were kindly upgraded to the self contained detached cottage which was tastefully decorated and very clean. We were made to feel very welcome by Jane who clearly goes the extra mile for her guests. After a long night of partying at the manor, we had a great sleep in the very comfy bed and a fantastic full English breakfast in the morning. Right from the off upon booking over the phone, Jane (the owner) was amazingly helpful going above and beyond what we expected. This continued upon arrival at this beautiful old farm house. We enjoyed every part of our stay but there were two main highlights, the first being an afternoon walk around the picturesque grounds helped by a little map of where to go and what to see. Second was a GREAT breakfast served at the time of our choice (before 9) with enough choice for anyone! Jane`s hospitality was second to none and nothing we have experienced before in any B&B accommodation. We can't thank her enough for making our stay a truly lovely and relaxing experience. We would highly recommend this to anyone planning a break away. We will definately be going back again soon for a longer stay.

I know this place well having visited it many times. The beautiful old farmhouse is so welcoming that you immediately feel at home. Jane who runs it is a gem. So friendly and welcoming makes the stay even more special.
The rooms are so very tasteful and well equipped. Each has a different theme and are very stylish but not so posh that you feel uncomfortable. You just feel relaxed and totally at home. Jane also has a self catering stable cottage for a romantic getaway for two.
There is a downstairs bedroom which is very handy if you can't manage stairs and I found that all the rooms I had been in were very spacious with beautiful countryside views.
Don't miss a chance to walk in the woods, see the lake and vineyard too if you have time.
I would wholeheartedly recommend this place to everyone and personally think that Alistair Sawday's Guide has missed a trick!

Stayed here as in the area for both business and pleasure, Jane gave us a lovely welcome with warm biscuits on arrival and fudge in the room. We stayed in the Green Room which is very spacious, lovely furniture, comfy bed and spotlessly clean. Wifi connection was fine and I managed to work online with no problem at all, also watched BBC iPlayer and on Facebook with no issues.
Breakfast was generous and well cooked, scrambled eggs perfect every time and the fresh fruit gorgeous with caramelised bananas and apples - yum! The surrounding area is stunning, the walks onsite gorgeous and Tavistock is a must, especially the market. We ate at the Arscott Arms and had possibly the best pub meal we have ever experienced! Also tried the Chinese in Tavistock - The Bird's Nest - which was also very good.
Jane is the nicest host you could hope for, the property is really lovely, you won't go wrong staying here. We have rebooked for next year....just leisure this time!

Jane didn't hesitate in offering us a lift to the hotel had we needed to pick up our car the next day. Breakfast was so tasty- homemade and locally sourced ingredients!
It was all the little touches that made the difference and I would have no issues staying here again or recommending it to anyone.

My Husband and I spent 4 nights at Jane's B & B recently. As soon as we arrived we could see this place was going to be exceptional. We were very warmly welcomed and shown to our room. It was beautifully decorated, comfortable, warm and spotless. Breakfast was beautifully cooked and served in the most wonderful farmhouse kitchen. We could have stayed forever.

My husband and I had a lovely stay.
Jane was very attentive. Within minutes of arriving, we had warm and delicious biscuits (cookies to our American comrades) in our hands along with some fresh milk for the tea selection available in the room. We stayed in the Blue Room with our dog as we had come to the area to go for some nice walks.

Jane made us feel very welcome on arrival. The location of this B&B is beautiful and the house and rooms were very clean.
The Double rooms are very big and comfy.
The wide range of choice for breakfast was excellent and the food cooked was very nice and to a high standard.
I would thoroughly recommend anyone visiting this area to stay here. This is one or if not the best B&B we have stayed in.
We will hopefully come back and visit one day.
Thank you Jane

Jane was fantastic, made us feel very welcome, and on arrival brought us freshly cooked biscuits with our cup of tea.
Where else would you get this ?
Jane also offered to give us lifts to and fro from the wedding.
The breakfast was superb, freshly cooked full English and endless toast, tea, coffee and fresh juice.
We would not hesitate to recommend Lobhill to anyone. 5 star all the way.
Thank you Jane for a lovely stay, only wish it had been longer.

This has to be the best B&B I have ever stayed in. The location is superb, as was the standard of the room. A genuine and warm welcome was received from Jane, and I felt immediately at ease and relaxed. Breakfast was delicious. The woodland walk was wonderful and the house is situated in beautiful countryside. I most strongly recommend staying here.

A real gem of a place to stay and chill out!!! A truly delightful place to stay, most welcoming, gorgeous accommodation, lovely surroundings, wonderful service and attention from Jane, the owner. We stayed here whilst visiting old family friends and catching up with long lost family together with spending an evening at Jethro's Club.

Very reluctant to share this jewel... An absolute beauty, great location, fantastic find hence reluctance to share it, however truly deserves to be applauded. 4 AA stars are not enough, excellent throughout, warm welcome, room didn't want to leave, best night's sleep than any hotel in the world.

Given 4 stars by the AA and worth every one of them, we would give it ten!!! Recommended by my parents, who had stayed in the Farmhouse earlier in the year, my Husband and I knew we were onto a winner before we left home and we weren't disappointed. A great place to relax and unwind. The 'Stable' is gorgeous, spotlessly clean, warm and inviting A 'welcome folder' on the table when you arrive provides directions and sample menu's of some lovely places to eat locally with prices to suit all.

Exceptional value for money. Above and beyond expectation. Jane Colwill spoilt us. So warm and welcoming and helpful. She even drove us to and from the wedding reception which didn't finish until midnight. The kindness she showed us was wonderful. This was recommended to me by friends, a great decision.

Jane was very warm and welcoming to her beautiful home and bed and breakfast. The green room which we stayed in was very spacious with great fews of a woodland and excellent facilities. The bed was very comfortable. Jane was extremely helpful, even offering to drive us to a local restaurant if we wanted to drink.

We stayed 7 days and were absolutely delighted. The country breakfast was to cooked to order and delicious. Jane, the owner, was delightful and very helpful in helping us 'yanks' come up with ideas for places to visit. Would highly recommend this B&B for a relaxing stay in the Dartmoor area.

Quaint, picturesque and relaxing... Stayed here with my children they adored this place, set in beautiful grounds and snuggled into the borders of Dartmoor. Had a lovely stay and didn't want to leave. The owner is absolutely lovely and made us all feel very welcome. I cannot rate this any higher as 11/10. Highly recommended. Thank you.

Farmhouse B&B at its best... Excellent spacious accommodation. A walk around the woods in the grounds is a great way to work up an appetite for the hearty breakfast, which is cooked in front of you and served on a traditional farmhouse kitchen table. Please don’t tell too many people, as I want to come again soon!

We stayed at Lobhill with the children for 2 nights. It's clean and very spacious. The garden is fantastic – with the lovely summerhouse and walks through the woods. The children loved the secret passages! Jayne's hospitality is second to none and the cooked breakfast was delicious. Highly recommended!

If you don't appreciate this place you shouldn't go on holiday… How fantastic to find a b&b that looks perfect the second you arrive and then lives up to to the appearance. Beautiful setting, most charming 'mine host' etc. B&Bs don't get any better than this.

We stayed one night at Lobhill en route to Cornwall, and arrived (very late) after an extremely long drive down from Cheshire with two small children. Despite the 8pm arrival, Jane was extremely welcoming and had freshly made biscuits out of the oven soon after we'd got there (which our 4 year old appreciated!). Jane is an excellent host - helpful without being overbearing, with nothing being too much trouble. The farmhouse is beautiful, in a gorgeous spot and tastefully decorated - it was a shame it was raining the next day as we would have loved to have explored the grounds, woods and streams (Jane helpfully provides a little map in the room showing different paths which link up to her parents' farmhouse - the grounds of which you are also welcome to explore).

If you can better this B&B then I would like to know how, beautiful location with outstanding walks, very clean, good quality bedding, fantastic food and a lovely hostess, Jane, who could not do more to make your stay anymore enjoyable. A truly beautiful way to see the New Year in. Thank you so very much.
